Congresswoman Shalala serves as the U.S. Representative for Florida’s 27th congressional district. In 1993, Congresswoman Shalala was nominated by President Clinton to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services and oversaw the Children’s Health Insurance Program. In 2008, President Bush selected Donna Shalala as a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She was named one of “America’s Best Leaders”.
