Marjorie Velázquez

Marjorie Velázquez is a daughter of the Bronx-born and raised in the borough to Puerto Rican parents who moved here in the 1970’s to build a better life for their family. She now serves the community that raised her as a member of the New York City Council, where she serves as chair of the Consumer and Workers Protection Committee. She lives in Throggs Neck with her husband Jeff and their three cats.
We are honored to endorse Velázquez for re-election to the New York City Council. Velázquez has been a steadfast advocate for empowering Muslim American communities, championing their rights, and amplifying their voices. Her dedication to promoting inclusivity, combating discrimination, and fostering interfaith dialogue has been instrumental in creating a more welcoming and equitable city for all. Velázquez’s commitment to addressing the unique needs and concerns of the Muslim American community is unwavering, and we believe she will continue to be a strong ally and advocate for us in the City Council. We proudly stand behind Marjorie Velázquez as she works tirelessly to build a more inclusive and diverse New York City.
